Terms of Use

Last updated 10 October 2026 · Effective 10 October 2026

These terms explain what you can expect from TaskCanyon and what we ask of you in return. We've tried to keep them readable; the summary below isn't a substitute for the full text.

1. Summary

  • TaskCanyon is free to download. TaskCanyon Pro is an optional one-time purchase, with no subscription.
  • Apple's standard App Store license applies; these terms add TaskCanyon-specific details.
  • Purchases and refunds are handled by Apple.
  • Your tasks are yours. Keep backups of anything important.
  • Don't rely on TaskCanyon alone for critical deadlines: reminders depend on your Mac and macOS.
  • The app is provided as is, within the limits the law allows, and your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

2. Agreement and Apple's EULA

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Amit Raj, the developer of TaskCanyon (“we”, “us”, “our”). They apply to the TaskCanyon app for macOS, including TaskCanyon Pro (together, the “App”), and to the website at taskcanyon.app (the “Website”).

The App is licensed to you through the Mac App Store under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Standard EULA”). These Terms supplement the Standard EULA. If anything in these Terms conflicts with the Standard EULA, the Standard EULA prevails to the extent of the conflict. By downloading, installing or using the App, or by using the Website, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the App or the Website.

You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and us, not Apple, and that Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the Standard EULA and may enforce it against you.

3. Who can use TaskCanyon

You may use the App if you can form a binding agreement under the laws of your country, or if you're a minor using it with the permission of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. You must also comply with the App Store's terms and Usage Rules.

4. License

Subject to these Terms and the Standard EULA, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on Apple-branded Mac computers that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's Usage Rules.

You may not, except where the law expressly allows it:

  • copy, modify, translate or create derivative works of the App;
  • reverse-engineer, decompile or disassemble the App, or attempt to bypass its purchase checks or licensing;
  • rent, lease, lend, sell, sublicense or redistribute the App or TaskCanyon Pro;
  • remove or alter any proprietary notices in the App.

The App is licensed, not sold. We reserve all rights not expressly granted.

5. Free features and TaskCanyon Pro

The free version of TaskCanyon includes the menu bar task list, the global shortcut, stars, undo, keyboard control and appearance settings. TaskCanyon Pro is an optional in-app purchase that unlocks additional features, currently due dates and reminders, overdue indicators, lists, smart quick add for dates and lists, and iCloud sync.

  • One-time purchase. Pro is a non-consumable purchase. It is not a subscription and doesn't renew or charge you again.
  • Your Apple Account. Pro is tied to the Apple Account used to buy it. You can unlock it on your other Macs signed in to the same account with Restore Purchases (Preferences → Pro). Pro isn't shareable through Family Sharing.
  • Future features. Features added to Pro in later versions are included at no extra cost unless we clearly say otherwise before you buy. We won't remove a Pro feature you paid for unless it becomes impossible or unreasonable to keep, for example because of a change in macOS, Apple's services or the law.

6. Payments and refunds

All purchases are processed by Apple, not by us. Prices are shown in the App and on the App Store in your local currency and may include taxes as required where you live; they may differ between countries and may change over time, but a price change never affects a purchase you've already made.

Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't issue refunds directly, because we never receive your payment details.

7. Updates and availability

We may release updates to fix bugs, improve features, add new ones or keep the App working with new versions of macOS. Some updates may be required to keep using certain features. The App requires a supported version of macOS (currently macOS 14 Sonoma or later); support for older macOS versions may end over time.

We hope to support TaskCanyon for a long time, but we may stop updating or distributing it. If that happens, the version installed on your Mac will continue to work for local use for as long as macOS allows, although features that depend on Apple's services, such as iCloud sync, may stop working if those services change.

8. iCloud and Apple services

iCloud sync is optional. It relies on your Apple Account, your iCloud storage and the availability of Apple's iCloud service, all of which are provided by Apple under its own terms, including the iCloud Terms and Conditions. We don't control iCloud and can't guarantee that sync will always be available, immediate or free of conflicts. If the same task is changed on two Macs at once, the most recent change generally wins.

9. Reminders

Reminders are delivered by macOS. Whether and when you see one depends on things outside our control, including your notification settings, Focus or Do Not Disturb, whether your Mac is awake, switched on and signed in, and whether TaskCanyon is running.

TaskCanyon is a personal productivity tool. Please don't rely on it as your only reminder for anything where a missed or late reminder could cause harm or serious loss, such as medication, medical, legal, financial or safety-related deadlines.

10. Your content and backups

Everything you enter into TaskCanyon (“Your Content”) belongs to you. It's stored on your Mac and, if you choose, in your private iCloud; we don't receive it or claim any rights to it. See the Privacy Policy for details.

You're responsible for Your Content and for keeping backups of anything important, for example with Time Machine. Data can be lost through hardware failure, accidental deletion, software errors or changes to iCloud, and because we never have a copy of your tasks, we can't recover them for you.

11. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the App or Website to break any law; to interfere with, disrupt or attempt to gain unauthorized access to Apple's services, the Website or other users' data; or to use the Website in a way that places an unreasonable load on it, including automated scraping beyond normal indexing by search engines.

12. Ownership and trademarks

The App and Website, including their code, design, text, graphics, icons and the TaskCanyon name and logo, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark and other laws. You may not use the TaskCanyon name or logo in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation without our written permission. You're welcome to link to taskcanyon.app and to share screenshots of the App for reviews, tutorials and personal use.

Apple, the Apple logo, Mac, macOS, iCloud and the Mac App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc., registered in the U.S. and other countries. TaskCanyon is not made, endorsed or sponsored by Apple.

13. Feedback

We love hearing ideas. If you send us suggestions or feedback, you allow us to use them to improve TaskCanyon without any obligation to you. This doesn't give us any rights to Your Content.

14. This website

The Website is provided for information about TaskCanyon. We try to keep it accurate, but features, prices and availability shown on it may change, and the App Store listing is the authoritative source for the current price in your country. Links to other websites, including the App Store, are provided for convenience; we aren't responsible for their content or practices.

15. Third-party software

The App is built with Apple's frameworks and contains no third-party SDKs. The Website uses open-source libraries (three.js and Lenis) under the MIT License; their notices are in LICENSES.txt.

16. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App and the Website are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, satisfactory quality, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We don't warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free or free of data loss, that reminders will always be delivered on time, or that sync will always be available.

Under the Standard EULA, if the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price for the App, if any. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App.

17. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, business or goodwill, or for missed deadlines or appointments, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the App or the Website, even if we've been told such damages were possible.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for all claims relating to the App and the Website is limited to the amount you paid for TaskCanyon Pro, or US $5 if you haven't purchased it.

Some jurisdictions don't allow the exclusion or limitation of certain warranties or damages, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be excluded or limited by law.

18. Your consumer rights

If you're a consumer, you may have legal rights in your country that these Terms can't change, for example rights about faulty digital content under consumer-protection law in the European Union or the United Kingdom. Nothing in these Terms affects those statutory rights.

19. Termination

You can stop using TaskCanyon at any time by deleting it from your Mac. Your license ends automatically if you materially breach these Terms or the Standard EULA; if it does, you must stop using the App and delete it. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including Your Content, Ownership, Disclaimers, Limitation of liability and Disputes, survive.

20. Disputes and governing law

If something goes wrong, please contact us first at [email protected]; most issues can be solved quickly by email, and we'll try in good faith to resolve any complaint within 30 days.

Matters between you and Apple about the App Store and the Standard EULA are governed by the law set out in the Standard EULA. Otherwise, to the extent permitted by law, any dispute arising from these Terms will be governed by the laws of the country in which you habitually reside and may be brought in the courts there. If you're a consumer, you always keep the protection of the mandatory laws of your country of residence and the right to bring proceedings in your local courts.

21. General

  • Entire agreement. These Terms, the Standard EULA and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about TaskCanyon.
  • Severability. If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect, and the unenforceable part will be applied as closely to its intent as the law allows.
  • No waiver. If we don't enforce a provision right away, we don't give up the right to enforce it later.
  • Assignment. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms. We may transfer ours, for example if TaskCanyon is sold, provided your rights aren't reduced.
  • Export. You must comply with all applicable export and sanctions laws when using the App.
  • Language. These Terms are written in English. If they're translated, the English version prevails.

22. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features or legal requirements. We'll post the updated Terms on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If a change materially reduces your rights, we'll mention it in the App's release notes. Continuing to use TaskCanyon after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. Changes never apply retroactively to purchases you've already made.
